“What nobler employment, or more valuable to the state, than that of the man who instructs the rising generation.” – Marcus Tullius Cicero
One of the most rewarding aspects to KidsCo is hearing the kids say to their parents as they walk in to pick them up, “oh, you’re here already…”. Making every child’s day at KidsCo the most fun ever is what we aim to do!
Because after all, happy child means happy parent, and happy parent means happy workplace!
This reaction from kids, could not be made possible without the effort, time and enthusiasm provided by the teachers of the day.
One of the biggest things we have noticed at KidsCo is that we have employed so many awesome teachers who can’t seem to find full time work. It’s hard to see so many talented and truly inspiring teachers struggling to fit the mould of what is demanded by the education system and the current employment climate at the moment.
World Teacher Day is more than just a calendar event to us at KidsCo. It is representative of the people who played such a large part in shaping who we are as individuals today. We look to employ the same type of people to run our programs.
#PreachATeacher came about to show our appreciation, adoration and adulation to teachers. As a result, we are giving one lucky teacher two return flights to Bali alongside six nights accommodation in a luxurious resort to say thank you, and here’s a well-earned treat.
The amount of Preach A Teacher tags demonstrates the influence these people have made on others lives, and we’re so happy to be treating someone to a holiday.
With 65% of new teachers on short-term contracts, little time is available to form meaningful connections with students. As WTD comes and goes, we need to look at ways we can help teachers and reward them for their influence.
After all, as the Chinese proverb goes, ‘a load of good books does not equal one good teacher’.
